Chandler Police Station

Well this may be the highlight of our year--not sure how to top this field trip!  We had the BEST time touring the Chandler Police Department with Officer Robin V.  We had this tour a little over a year ago with our Bear troop and couldn't wait to take the Wolves as well.

Officer Robin is absolutely AMAZING with the boys.  She is always so patient and willing to answer questions--and believe me...the boys had A TON of questions.  Here we are at the start of the tour:

The boys didn't believe that Officer Robin's pink handcuffs were real.  Well, she proved them wrong when she locked up Andrew:

Oh yeah....THEY'RE REAL!!!  Right Andrew?!

Here is Officer Robin explaining the "Explorers Program" to the boys.  This is a program for teenage boys ages 14-18 who are interested in law enforcement.

At this part of the tour the boys are usually able to go into the holding cells in the police department HOWEVER it was a really busy day in Chandler because they had a detainee in BOTH the adult and juvenile sections:(  Here the officer is explaining why these two were in custody and also why there was a very strong/strange scent in this area.  Let's just say that Sis. Meeker and Sis. Park NOW know what marijuana smells like:)  Something for everyone to learn:)

Here the boys are in the shooting range where they learned about the different shooting drills that police officers are required to pass off--and they are HARD!!!

The boys were all allowed to take home a bullet shell which they were told to keep AT HOME and to not for any reason take them to school!!!

The boys were also able to try on some bullet-proof vests and hold up the police shields:

Dallin, Austin, and Jacob

Hershal, Andrew, and Dane

This is Austin:)

Dane and Gabriel

Jacob

They were also able to see and hear a REAL police car:)

Officer Robin always ends the tour with the boys taking an oath to earn their official Chandler Police Department badge.  In this oath, they promise ALL kinds of things like:  eating ALL of their dinners, being nice to their brothers and sisters, recycling, etc...and doing ALL of these thing "With a smile on my face."  So make sure to ask them about everything they promised Officer Robin:)
